About the Series

Finding Faith is a series of works telling short and simple stories in an artful way using videography, photography and painting. The videos and photographs are taken simultaneously and then one image from the photographs is selected for the oil painting which completes the work in the series. The stories, as well as their inspiration are unrelated to each other.

I named the project "Finding Faith" for two reasons, one simple and one comlicated:

1. The first person to model for the series was my lovely niece Faith, who appears in the first three works.

2. In each work I try to create a flow among the photos, video and painting and to make each element of the work visually beautiful. Since the videos are a very short 3-5 minutes, I have to keep the stories simple, but also find a way to make them interesting. It is a challenge to complete each project as my time with the models is very limited and there are many details to remember. Each time I work on these projects, I have to have faith in myself as an artist to bring each one to fruition, drawing from every ounce of creativity within me, and also faith that each completed project will mean something special to those who view them.

This is still a work in progress. My goal is to complete eight of these works in the series and I dream of showing the entire series together one day.
